Join Dr Edwige Moyroud from the Sainsbury Laboratory, University of Cambridge for this third talk in the series.

Flowering plants very often display striking patterns on their petals. These patterns are key to attract pollinators and are very elaborate, combining different pigmentations but also an array of amazing microscopic features that play a key role in plant-insects communication. How flowering plants control the development of their petals to produce those patterns is still mysterious. This talk will look at what scientists in Cambridge and elsewhere are doing to try and solve this enigma.

Our seasonal series of Science on Sundays talks run each month between March — August. They bring the latest discoveries in plant science to our visitors in a 30 minute nutshell. The series is curated by the Garden's Director, Professor Beverley Glover.

Science on Sundays are free, drop-in 30 minute talks starting at 11am and repeated at 2pm, suitable for 12+. Normal Garden admission applies.

Talks take place in the Garden Classroom. No pre-booking required.
