Dr Gerard Lyons tells us how to make a success of Brexit. Since 1999, the share of UK trade with the EU has fallen from 61% to just over 40%. If the single market is so good for the UK, why do we trade less with the EU than with the rest of the world?
Gerard Lyons is a British economist and writer. He is an expert on the world economy, global financial markets and on economic and regulatory policy, focusing on international banking. Lyons was the co-founder of 'Economists for Brexit' and played a leading role in the UK European Union Referendum. From January 2013 to May 2016 he was Chief Economic Advisor to the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson. Prior to that, Lyons spent 25 years in the City, most recently as Chief Economist and Head of Global Research at Standard Chartered Bank.Dr Gerard Lyons
