We are very excited to announce the Cambridge University GP Society Inaugural Symposium 2018. The theme of this year's symposium asks «Where can a career in General Practice take you?»
The symposium will run from 9.30am till 3.30pm in Lecture Theatre 2 of the Clinical School. The event will be FREE of charge, with lunch, hot drinks and snacks provided on the day.
Our keynote speakers are Professor Martin Roland and Dr John Benson:
Professor Martin Roland «How to be a professor: Personal reflections on a career in academic general practice»
Professor Martin Roland is Emeritus Professor of Health Services Research at the University of Cambridge. He trained in clinical medicine at the University of Oxford, where he obtained his doctorate, and worked in London and in Cambridge. Professor Martin Roland is going to talk about the ups and downs of his career, how things don't always go right, but how fulfilling overcoming life's challenges can be, and what a great career general practice is!
Dr John Benson «Academic General Practice — Life, the Universe and Everything»
Dr John Benson is a senior lecturer in General Practice, academic GP at the Department of Public Health and Primary Care, School of Clinical Medicine, University of Cambridge. Dr Benson will be speaking about his career path to academic GP, what academic GPs do, and the advantages of becoming an academic GP.

Dr Nish Manek «Next Generation GP: Developing as a Clinician and Medical Leader»
Dr Nish Manek is a GP trainee, blogger, clinical fellow, and passionate advocate of all things General Practice. She will be speaking about her decision to become a GP, and her path from medical student to trainee.
