Talking corpses. Slippages of memory. The spectre of destruction. The interaction of film, stage, and nostalgia. The stubbornness of an aging mother.
The Fletcher Players and Corpus Playroom are proud to present Boom, a play by Singaporean playwright Jean Tay. Set in Singapore in 2007, Boom tells the story of Boon, a gangster turned property agent. When his family home is slated for redevelopment, he struggles to persuade his mother who cannot bear to let it go. As they face the prospect of their past being swept away, an idealistic civil servant named Jeremiah surreptitiously discovers that he can talk to a corpse.
Join us for an evening of supernatural conversations, fading memories, urban dislocation, and sepia-tinged sentimentality. The play will be staged at the Corpus Playroom from the 13th to the 17th of March at 7pm.
