A brilliant talk by Maureen James, from Telling History, about ‘Witches and Wisewomen’ to commemorate International Women’s Day.
Maureen will tell us about the changing attitude to people who were called ‘witches’ from the medieval acceptance of their role as healers or wise women, through their persecution by Matthew Hopkins to the foundation of modern Wicca. Also, what's the role of superstition and where's the place of older women in England throughout the ages?
