Join us for the second CUGS Speakers event of term- we are delighted to host Sir Jonathon Porritt described as Britain's «most influential green thinker».
Jonathon read modern languages at Oxford before becoming a leading member of the Green Party. He was appointed Chair of the Sustainable Development Commission in 2000 and has suggested family planning as one means of dealing with our crisis of sustainability. He is Chancellor of Keele University and the author of books such as «Playing safe: Science and the Environment».

Jonathon will give what promises to be a fascinating talk on the subject of 'Will we ever Learn to Live within our Planetary Boundaries?'- focusing on the socio-economic implications of this framework for humanity. It will be extremely beneficial for the 1A SESD paper, 1B development paper and part 2 Environmental Knowledges paper but will be of interest to all of those interested in the future of conservation. It is an event not to be missed and a fantastic opportunity to hear the insights of a world renowned expert on the climate change debate.

LLT, Department of Geography. 6pm start. CUGS members free. Non-members £2.
