Our seasonal series of Science on Sundays talks bring the latest discoveries in plant science to our visitors in a 30 minute nutshell.
Join Dr Uta Paszkowski from the Department of Plant Sciences, University of Cambridge, to discover the art and design of harmony in plant-fungal symbioses. Almost all types of land plants in all terrestrial ecosystems take part in arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) interactions, which are globally the most widely distributed plant symbioses. This symbiotic interaction is intriguingly intimate, culminating in fungal invasion of the root where intracellular colonization of plant cells by fungal tree like structures leads to nutrient exchange that benefits both partners.
Free 30 minute talk held in the Garden Classroom starting at 11am and repeated at 2pm, drop in, aimed at age 12+. Normal Garden admission applies.
