'Hiraeth' is an untranslatable Welsh word that stands for a yearning for a home you can never return to or one that never was.The Hiraeth Project is a student-led social innovation initiative that runs personalized poetry workshops and informal discussion sessions to record different senses of home and belonging in the Cambridge area. We aim to create a network of support for anyone who wants to write who is experiencing homelessness or homesickness in any form. We have reached out to people from all walks of life, from incoming refugees to international students to marketplace stallholders, in order to explore what people feel about 'home' and 'Hiraeth' in our times.
The Hiraeth Project will be selling copies of its inaugural publication on Friday June 23rd 2017. Come along for some poetry readings and a really exciting talk by renowned British broadcaster, journalist and author Bidisha Mamata.
The Hiraeth Team will all be present if you have any questions about the project or would like to be involved next year :)
