Cambridge University Botanic Garden
1 Brookside, CB2 1JE Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
The Garden is delighted to host another year of top-notch, open-air music from Cambridge Summer Music. A celebration of summer and music, Sounds Green takes place every Wednesday evening in July on the Garden’s Main Lawn. A perfect opportunity to embrace the wonderful sights, sounds and summer smells with family and friends on a (hopefully) warm and balmy evening. A rug and optional picnic are all that are required to enjoy an array of music beginning at 6.15pm and lasting an hour, with the Garden closing at 8pm. The Garden Café will be serving food and drink; Thirsty will be providing a bar each evening and Jack's Gelato will be serving homemade ice-cream on the Main Lawn.
Afrosamba is a Brazilian four-piece encompassing styles such as Afro Brazilian Jazz, Samba and Bossa Nova. Based in the UK, the group is fronted by Brazilian born Pilo Adami with seasoned musicians from Mozambique, Brazil and the UK. Influences are drawn from João Gilberto’s harmonic complexities, Airto Moreira’s experimental rhythms and Jorge Ben Jor’s laid back approach.
No tickets are required but normal Garden admission applies. There will be a retiring collection at the end of each performance towards the musicians' performance fees.
