Having spent over 17 years veering between their own material, playing covers and inactivity, Heavy Load's status these days is more about the occasional get together and having a lot of fun in the process. A popular attraction within the Cambs pub-gigging community, Alex (bass) and John (guitar) now enjoy the variety of different drummers on different nights. Most notably Tony Hill and Garry Bowler. Each line up has something of their own as the trio tear through songs by Jimi Hendrix, ZZ Top, Cream, Rory Gallagher, Bruce Springsteen as well as a whole heap of blues stuff from various sources.
Newcomers to an incarnation of «The 'Load» are rarely unimpressed with what they hear but for the three guys playing on the night, it's all about the moment, having great fun and running with the musical spontaneity which often ensues at each gig.
So if you see them listed and you're partial to a bit of blues and rock, check them out. They may just be one of the better things you'll see this year!
